01What are matt coated business cards?
These business cards are printed on 350 gsm white matt coated card. The finish is part of the paper itself: no plastic film is added. Its understated appearance suits a clear logo, your brand colours and an easy-to-read layout. Choose single-sided or double-sided printing for contact details, your services and an invitation to visit your business.
The finished card measures 8.1 × 5 cm, with straight edges. The photograph is a material and product example; we print your approved artwork. This product replaces the former Express business cards, retaining quantity-based prices and the 2–3 business-day lead time. The name now identifies the paper so you can compare finishes easily.
02Matt coated or matt laminated: understand the difference
Matt coated describes the card surface. These cards are unlaminated on both sides. DTS budget matt cards instead have matt lamination on side A, with side B unlaminated. Although both names include matt, they are different products: compare the stock, photograph, quantities and lead times before choosing.
For an unlaminated white card in print runs from 500, matt coated is a straightforward option. For a laminated surface or quantities in multiples of 1,000, see our budget cards. Brown kraft and textured laid paper have their own product pages. The digital proof helps check your layout but does not reproduce the physical feel of each paper.
03How much do matt coated business cards cost?
A run of 500 cards costs €29 excluding VAT, with €6.09 reference VAT at 21%, for a total of €35.09. Printing 1,000 cards costs €39 excluding VAT or €47.19 including VAT; 2,000 cost €76 excluding VAT or €91.96 including VAT. The quotation table compares quantities and savings per card against the minimum run.
The former Express prices are retained. Enter your quantity in blocks of 500 and check the total before ordering. Between quantity tiers, the price per card uses the highest tier reached: for example, 1,500 cards use the 1,000-card rate and cost €58.50 excluding VAT. Design services are shown separately. Delivery and final tax are calculated from your order details at checkout.
04Business cards for everyone on your team
Print one design for the whole run or split your order across several designs. Each design requires at least 500 cards. For 1,000 cards, allocate 500 to one person and 500 to another. If both designs are double-sided, upload four files: A and B for each design. The allocated blocks must add up to the order total.
Select Add another design on the product page or in the digital proof to add a design. Existing uploads are retained. After closing the proof, thumbnails show the sides uploaded and designs prepared. Reopen a proof or remove an incorrect file without losing the other sides of your order.
05What to include on a professional business card
Start with the details people need to remember: your business or personal name, what you do, phone number, email and a useful link. A visible logo and clear hierarchy make information easy to find. A shop can include its address; a professional can highlight their specialism and contact details. Include only the social channels you use to serve customers or showcase your work.
Use side B for a short message, services or a QR code. Test the QR code and give it sufficient size and contrast: an on-screen preview does not guarantee it will scan in print. Avoid long paragraphs and very small text. If your phone number or address changes, check every design before confirming. Sharp artwork still needs accurate information.
06Free digital proof: check A and B before printing
Open the digital proof and upload side A and side B separately, or select both files together. The first file goes on A and the second on B. The green guide marks the safe area for text and logos; the pink line marks the cut. Drag the artwork or resize it proportionally with the mouse to position it as needed.
Use Inspection zoom to check small text. This only enlarges the view; it does not change the printed size or position. Guides and controls are not part of the final artwork and are not printed. The automatic check provides guidance on resolution and margins, but may miss decorative lettering or text converted to outlines. Check the details, spelling and important elements yourself.
07A straightforward guide to preparing your artwork
Prepare an 8.6 × 5.5 cm landscape file for each side. The trimmed card is 8.1 × 5 cm: 2.5 mm is removed around the artwork. This outer strip contains only background bleed. Leave a further 2.5 mm safety margin inside the cut; keep names, logos and details inside the 7.6 × 4.5 cm area. Swap width and height for a portrait design.
Download the PDF template and simple guide from the digital proof. Prefer a single-page PDF per side, JPG or PNG. An image of at least 1,016 × 650 pixels at this size meets the 300 dpi target. Enlarging a small file may cause pixelation; changing its resolution label does not create new detail. Extend the background to the edge and leave crop marks and template guides out of the artwork.
08Artwork service and delivery for matt coated cards
Our design service costs €20 plus VAT per different design, including sides A and B. For two designs, the service costs €40 plus VAT. Send your logo, text and presentation brief. Check the itemised quotation and approve the proof before the order goes to print.
Delivery takes 2–3 business days after order confirmation and artwork approval, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Artwork created or corrected for the order must be approved first. Choose shop collection or delivery at checkout and check its cost and availability. DTS Printing is in Barcelona: for a fixed deadline, contact us before ordering to confirm the schedule.
